Are You Blowing It with Tungsten?

Still using tungsten bulbs? Any moment now – possibly in the middle of an exam – your rockstar slit lamp in lane two could turn into a $13,000 brick with a fancy Swiss label.

Tungsten bulbs gets a bad rep, and rightfully so, because they’re the biggest cause of slit lamp failure (downtime). What’s more, they consume 60% more energy than LED bulbs (higher electric bills), burn hotter than LED and make patients uncomfortable during long exams, and restrict your view of the anterior segment and retina.

LED: a bright decision for you and your patients

Here are the main benefits of upgrading your slit lamp to LED with Bell Ophthalmic:

  • No more hot spots. LED gives you a crisp slit lamp image and more homogenous illumination. You’ll see even the tiniest blood vessels in vivid color and detail.
  • Make the best diagnosis. The boost in power in the short wavelength improves fluorescence and anterior chamber examination, and enhances detail on the retina.
  • Don’t replace another bulb. A single LED lasts for about 35,000 hours, or 150 times longer than tungsten. This reduces costly downtime caused by blown bulbs.

Upgrade to LED. Get free preventive maintenance.

Keep Tungsten in the dark. Upgrade your Haag-Streit slit lamp to LED. It’s a routine procedure our technicians perform on a regular basis. Every upgrade includes a new tabletop and transformer, and as an added bonus, free preventive maintenance on each slit lamp we switch to LED.
