Get to Know a Bell Techie: Matt Lynch

Oct 23, 2015 | Bell News

Welcome to our new series, “Get to Know a Bell Techie.” Each month, we’ll profile a member of our team. That way, when they’re installing a new retinal camera or repairing your lucky exam chair, you can feel free to ask “How about those O’s?”

Our first victim? Matt Lynch. He’s one of our veteran sales consultants. If you’re a Maryland local, chances are you know Matt. But what you might not know is that during basketball season, he dons zebra stripes and hits the court.

How long have you been with Bell? Nine years.

Which geographic areas do you serve? Maryland, Washington D.C. and Delaware.

Favorite part of the job? Interacting with doctors and technicians and seeing their reactions when we show them a product that instantly enhances the whole practice.

Best dining spot in town? Box Hill Pizzeria in Bel Air, Maryland. Not only some of the best pies, but the best crab cakes, too!

Hobbies: I’m a referee for division-one college basketball.

Which sports team do you root for? Philadelphia Eagles. I bleed green.

Favorite book or TV show: The Old Man and the Sea by the legendary Ernest Hemingway.

What’s something most people don’t know about you? I was Mr. Cinnaminson my senior year in high school (1997 in New Jersey). Google it.

What makes a great Bell sales consultant? Product knowledge, being active in the field and problem solving, to name a few. My phone is an extension of my body and I’m not ashamed to admit it. A simple text can sometimes prevent a meltdown.

Can you describe a memorable sale or service call? Over the course of my career, it’s been very rewarding to walk into an ophthalmology or optometry practice and introduce Bell as the local equipment and service provider. The go-to guys that can bring significant value to a practice.

I’ve made more cold calls than I care to admit, but it feels great to know that many of them panned out and I’ve developed long-term relationships. Krieger Eye Institute is one of them. Since we’ve worked with them, they’ve undergone numerous expansions. All of us at Bell are up for the challenge – big or small – to get a practice up a running.

Is your practice located in the Mid-Atlantic region, or are you eyeing an expansion down that way? Send Matt an email, or give him a buzz at 609-670-0650. He’s eager to help with your equipment needs. Or at the very least, help you find some great grub.
